ForsVC haalt 18 miljoen euro op voor de Belgische game industrie

ForsVC, het eerste durfkapitaalfonds met een absolute focus op de Belgische videogame-industrie, beschikt na een tweede closing over 18 miljoen euro. Daarmee belooft ForsVC een unieke hefboom te worden voor de Belgische gamestudio’s en investeerders.
ForsVC, het investeringsfonds waarin Howest, De Cronos Groep en BNP Paribas Fortis Private Equity de krachten bundelen, ging in oktober 2021 van start met 6,5 miljoen euro. De taille van het fonds wordt na een tweede closing nu uitgebreid naar 18 miljoen euro.
Door de expertise, het netwerk en de middelen van haar partners en investeerders te combineren, wil ForsVC de Belgische gameindustrie versterken. Het management team laat zich hiervoor bijstaan door een panel van experten met knowhow doorheen de verschillende fases van de ontwikkeling van een videogame en over de verschillende disciplines heen.
Ook de institutionele investeerders, die naast de family offices participeren, laten graag hun expertise en netwerk renderen. Volgende partijen hebben hun actieve steun toegezegd: PMV, SFPI/FPIM, Sambrinvest, Noshaq en Wallimage. Uit de keuze van de investeerders blijkt ook duidelijk de ambitie van ForsVC om in heel België te investeren en zich niet te beperken tot één regio.
In februari 2022 kondige ForsVC een eerste investering aan in de Antwerpse gamestudio Cyborn. Die gamestudio brengt later op het jaar het beloftevolle game Hubris VR uit, een action-adventuregame die zich afspeelt in het unieke, intrigerende Hubris-scifi-universum. Hubris VR kreeg wereldwijd heel wat aandacht in de videogame-vakpers omwille van zijn grafische topkwaliteit en zijn baanbrekende VR-game mechanics.
Begin maart 2022 werd een eerste pitchmoment georganiseerd waarbij een tiental game studio’s hun games en studio kwamen voorstellen aan het panel van experten. Dat gaf voldoende vertrouwen dat de opgehaalde fondsen ook nuttig besteed gaan kunnen worden. Op 9 juni volgt een tweede pitchmoment. Game studios kunnen zich aanmelden via deze link.

ForsVC, the first venture capital fund with a single-minded focus on the belgian videogame industry, has raised EUR 18 million after its second closing. This way ForsVC promises to become a unique lever for Belgian game studios and investors.
ForsVC, the investment fund in which Howest, De Cronos Groep and BNP Paribas Fortis Private Equity have joined forces, was launched in October 2021 with EUR 6.5 million. After a second closing, the fund will now expand to EUR 18 million.
By combining the expertise, network and resources of its partners and investors, ForsVC aims to strengthen the Belgian video game industry. To this end, the management team is assisted by a panel of experts with know-how in the different phases of video game development and across the different disciplines.
The institutional investors, who participate alongside the family offices, are also happy to put their expertise and network to good use. The following parties have given their active support: PMV, SFPI/FPIM, Sambrinvest, Noshaq and Wallimage. The choice of investors clearly shows ForsVC’s ambition to invest throughout Belgium and not to limit itself to one region.
In February 2022, ForsVC announced its first investment in Antwerp-based game studio Cyborn. Later this year, this game studio will release the promising game Hubris VR, an action-adventure game set in the unique, intriguing Hubris scifi universe.
